CAFE X, a coffeehouse and arts collaborative space, will open next month at 1835 Imperial Avenue, 92102. The cafe building takes up much of a block that will house artists and other creatives working to start a movement of healing and wealth building for communities of color. All are welcome to the new place that’s dedicated, in part, to events and educational programs for underserved and marginalized communities and bringing together the diaspora of cafe society to help make a better world. In this, Cafe X will revitalize the coffeehouse’s most noble tradition: of clearinghouse for information, activism, knowledge and direction of society that often enough leads society somewhere exciting and possibly noble.
